Sacrament and Shadow is an upcoming novel by Joseph Farrar, blending urban fantasy with New Orleans mysticism, Catholic imagery, and secret magical orders. Set in the weeks before Easter 2025, it follows Gerard Gaudet—a seminary student whose quiet faith is shattered by a late night Mass that opens a door he cannot close.
What begins as a personal crisis becomes a war for the magical soul of a city.
The novel is currently in pre-publication stages, with select chapters released to early readers. A limited beta campaign is underway—if you’re reading this, you’re already part of the mystery.

About the Author
Joseph Farrar is a writer, tarot reader, astrologer, and music educator with deep ties to New Orleans having lived there for almost a decade. His fiction draws from years of spiritual study, historical research, and a personal fascination with the liminal—those in-between spaces where belief and doubt collide.
Sacrament and Shadow is his first novel, born of candlelit cathedrals, whispered prayers, and the shadows cast by old secrets. Though he currently resides in Florida, he considers New Orleans home in the ways that matter most.
When he’s not writing, Joseph can usually be found reading something arcane, crafting astrological birth chart analyses, or wandering a city street with a coffee in his hand and a story unfolding in his head.
